Choose your approach
Salisbury puts you on the Lower Shore; a flight into Baltimore, the Washington area, or Philadelphia still leaves a longer drive to Ocean City. If you are driving from the western side of the Chesapeake, the Bay Bridge is the traffic check to make before setting out. In either case, use your hotel or chosen parking lot as the final destination, rather than Ocean City in general.
Drive
Drivers from Baltimore, Washington, and Annapolis typically cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and continue east on US-50. Use Maryland 511 for live bridge conditions and highway alerts rather than treating a summer arrival estimate as fixed.
Fly
Salisbury Regional Airport serves the Lower Shore with American Airlines and Breeze Airways. Compare current flight schedules and the onward journey with Baltimore, Washington-area, and Philadelphia airports; a different flight schedule comes with a much longer drive to the beach.

Once you reach town
The museum, Trimper Rides, pier, and food stands gather at the south end. A 28th Street or Midtown hotel is several miles north of the Inlet, and the boardwalk ends at 27th Street. Being near the beach does not necessarily mean being a short walk from the lower-boardwalk amusements.
If you are staying overnight, confirm hotel parking before arrival and check in before deciding whether to move the car again. For an Inlet outing from farther north, compare the Beach Bus with driving and parking downtown. A first meal near your hotel is another useful choice: save the south-end trip for the museum, rides, or boardwalk walk you actually want to make.
